One of the most iconic views of Japan can be seen from Chureito (忠霊塔), a beautiful red pagoda overlooking Fujiyoshida City with a spectacular panorama of Mount Fuji sprawling in the background. Although the pagoda might look ancient, it’s actually quite modern, built at the Arakura Sengen Shrine as a peace memorial in 1958. This definitive image of Japan can be enjoyed in every season—the Arakurayama Sengen Park is full of beautiful cherry blossom trees in spring that turn a firey red in autumn. My version of the Chureito pagoda depicts a snowy winter scene inspired by traditional ukiyo-e woodblock prints.
The design is printed on laser-cut walnut wood for a handmade-feel, and strung with a bright red ribbon trimmed in gold thread. Each ornament measures 9cm tall (3.5 inches) x 5.5cm wide (2.1 inches) wide, not including the ribbon. Ornaments are printed on one side only. Each ornament is presented in a gift box with interior black foam padding for safe storage after the holidays.
This ornament is a limited edition special item for the 2021 holiday season, and will not be reprinted after the season ends.
