Also known as the Japanese Macaque and called “Nihonzaru” (日本猿) in Japan, these fuzzy monkeys are the most northern-living primates in the world. At the Jigokudani “Hell Valley” park in Nagano prefecture, wild snow monkeys can be seen bathing daily in the hot springs—the only place in the world where this behaviour is found.
